Méfiez-vous du job idéal
Lorsque Roman Polanski sort The ghost writer, il n'a pas réalisé de long-métrage depuis Oliver Twist. Il avait rencontré le journaliste politique et écrivain Robert Harris lorsqu'il tentait d'adapter son roman Pompei, projet qui n'a finalement pas abouti. L'auteur envoie alors au réalisateur son manuscrit, L'homme de l'ombre, une fiction inspirée de la vie politique. Il faut dire que Robert Harris a suivi durant des années la politique anglo-saxonne, devenant petit à petit proche de Tony Blair. Si l'auteur se dédouane de la ressemblance entre le personnage principal de son œuvre et de l'ancien premier ministre, reste que l'on peut y voir certaines résonances entre la fiction et la réalité.
