Une certaine idée de la liberté
En lisant Les petits chevaux de Tarquinia, Matthieu Rozé s’est dit que le roman de Marguerite Duras pourrait donner lieu à une belle adaptation. Il s’est alors lancé, avec Julie Peyr, collaboratrice d’Anthony Cordier et d’Arnaud Desplechin, dans l’adaptation du roman. Au cinéma, la marque laissée par l’écrivaine née en Indochine est assez imposante, que l’on pense aux longs-métrages de Jean-Jacques Annaud ou de René Clément, ainsi qu’aux diverses collaborations qu’elle a pu nouer avec Alain Resnais ou Tony Richardson. Sans compter bien entendu les films qu’elle a elle-même mise en scène, issus de ses propres œuvres ou bien de scénarios originaux.Avec Azuro, le jeune acteur qui se lance dans la réalisation a choisi de ne pas adopter le ton durassien, tout en restant fidèle aux thématiques de l’autrice, et aussi à son texte.
