La production de Bohemian rhapsody, supervisée par les musiciens Brian May et Roger Taylor, fut longue et chaotique. Dès le début des années 2010, des rumeurs font l’état d’un projet de film consacré au groupe anglais Queen, et dont l’incarnation du personnage principal, le charismatique chanteur Freddie Mercury, serait dévolue à Sacha Baron Cohen. Des divergences le contraignent à quitter l’aventure, compromettant le financement du projet et occasionnant de nombreuses prises de paroles virulentes entre les anciens membres du groupe et l’interprète de Borat.
