The Truman Show porte son insoutenable contradiction dans son titre "le show de l'homme vrai". Et pour cause. Dans un futur (2020) où manifestement les droits de l'homme les plus élémentaires ne sont pas respectés, un bébé orphelin est "adopté" par un studio de télévision qui décide de monter un docu-soap autour de sa personne, sans jamais rien lui révéler bien entendu tout en l'empêchant par tous les moyens possibles de se rendre compte qu'il est enfermé, dirigé et violé dans son intimité. Parallèlement, la vie de Truman est censée incarner l'american way of life le plus stéréotypé: la petite ville se nomme sea heaven, tout le monde vit dans un pavillon propret standardisé, la femme de Truman arbore un sourire éclatant etc.
Sauf que vers l'âge de 30 ans Truman (alias Jim Carrey) finit
