Summary :

Two months before his marriage, James Donato disappears at sea while chasing his brother Phil, guilty of money laundering. While his family thinks he is dead, James was actually found on a Mexican beach, safe and sound but totally amnesic. Six and a half years later, he lives under a new identity: that of Carlos Dominguez, a widower and father of two boys whom he is raising with his sister-in-law Natalya. When his memory suddenly comes back to him, James is overwhelmed to discover that his former fiancée, Aimée, has rebuilt his life. He flees from Mexico to California, while at the same time Phil is released from prison and determined to find his brother, as he has witnessed something that could put him back behind bars.

As James begins to unravel the mystery of his fractured identity and danger looms, Natalya may be the only person he can count on.

The sequel to "La vie dont nous rêvions" of once again skillfully blends suspense and love.

My review :

I would especially like to thank Amazon Crossing and the Netgalley website for allowing me to read this duology in its entirety. This book is the continuation of : "The life we dreamed of".

We learn that James Donato disappeared at sea two months before getting married in pursuit of his brother Phil in the middle of money laundering. His family thought he was dead, but he was not. He was found on a beach in Mexico. But he has amnesia. Six years later he lives under another identity, that of Carlos Dominguez. He is a widower and lives with his two children and his sister-in-law Natalya. Suddenly his memory comes back to him and he is devastated to know that his ex-fiancee Aimée has rebuilt his life. He is going to flee Mexico to California and in the meantime Phil is released from prison and he wants to find James because he is the only one who could send him back to prison. James will be able to count only on Natalya.

I immediately hooked on the story, which is so gripping, captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters.
