A few words about the author :

Donna Cooner was born and raised in Texas. She is a three time graduate of Texas A&M University. A former teacher and school administrator, she now teaches teachers and principals at Colorado State University where she is the director of the School of Teacher Education and Principal Preparation. She lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, with her two labs and a cat named Stu. She’s a big fan of chocolate and laughing (not necessarily in that order).

Résumé :

Summary :

From acclaimed author Donna Cooner comes this gripping and timely story about identity, revenge, and the lies -- and truths -- we tell online.
Maisie Fernandez is fed up. Fed up with the bullies who taunt her about her size and her looks. Fed up with being the butt of everyone's jokes.

So, one night, Maisie goes online and creates a fake profile. "Sienna" is beautiful, skinny, and confident -- and soon she's messaging the most popular kids in Maisie's school. Maisie doesn't care about being friends with them. She wants to use Sienna to take them down.

But as Maisie's web of deception grows, she's in danger of being exposed. And what will happen when the actual Sienna -- the girl whose photos Maisie has been using -- shows up in real life?

My review :

I would like to thank the Netgalley website and the Hachette Romans editions for allowing me to read this book.

It features the pretty Maisie who, as for many teenagers, is going through hell in high school. Especially since her classmates only remind her that she is fat. She then takes refuge in drawing and comics, her passion. Until the day the chemistry teacher asks her to sit next to Jess, the most popular guy in school, she decides to create a fake profile on the most popular social network in school, a kind of revenge. Will she succeed in not being found out?

A book read in one go, so much so that I hung on to the story, so moving in some parts, addictive, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters.

I love the author's writing and look forward to reading more of her books.
