Max Romeo, War Ina Babylon, une production Lee « Scratch » Perry de 1976.
Maxwell Livingston Smith, de son vrai nom, naît en 1944. À l'âge de 18 ans, il arrive à Kingston et commence à enregistrer avec The Emotions sans vraiment rencontrer le succès. C'est à cette période qu'il gagne son surnom de Romeo, à cause de ses chansons romantiques, dans le style lover rock, comme on dit dans le jargon. Plus de 15 ans après, avec War Ina Babylon, le ton a bien changé mais le pseudo, lui, est resté.
En 1968, Lee Perry, surnommé le « reggae genius » parce qu'il est fou à lier (une fois, il a passé trois jours entiers à couvrir les murs de son studio, le Black Ark, de petits x avant d’y mettre le feu) mais aussi parce qu'on lui doit la production, et parfois l'écriture, d'un nombre hallucinant
