IL CONCETTO DI VOLONTÀ IN LUTERO E SCHOPENHAUER
Questo saggio prende l’avvio da uno spunto suggerito dallo stesso Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860) nel paragrafo §70 della sua opera fondamentale, Il mondo come volontà e rappresentazione[1], pubblicato nel 1819, che si richiama alle concezioni cristiane della volontà nella lettura agostiniana e luterana. Questo richiamarsi a Lutero da parte di Schopenhauer, peraltro, non sembrerebbe un mero riferimento intellettuale. Ricordiamo, infatti, che nel 1817 in Germania si celebrò il terzo centenario della Riforma di Lutero. Forti furono per l’occasione le istanze nazionalistiche, che esprimevano la loro contrarietà nei confronti della Francia monarchica, dello spirito della Restaurazione e dei nemici interni della riunificazione tedesca.
