A few words about the author :

Ex-advertiser, journalist, lecturer, translator of more than two hundred books, Jacques Bosser is the author of nine books on, among other things, architecture, design, gardens, and the history of libraries published in nine countries. Un Coeur sec is his first novel.

Summary :

Shortly after the death of his father, Pierre, in his fifties, receives a call from a woman who introduces herself as his half-sister. Born during the last war, Claire never really knew her parents. Hesitantly faced with the revelation of a family secret, Pierre nevertheless agrees to meet her to find, perhaps, answers to the questions he has been asking himself for so long.
He wants to understand his history, the reason for his forced learning of a solitary life, his inability to love. At Claire's side, he discovers the reason for his birth, learns to know himself better, he who continues to suffer from his childhood devoid of any affection.
A Dry Heart paints a disenchanted, touching, but also biting and funny portrait of an individualist with no attachments, an attentive and amused observer of his life, of life.

My review :

I would especially like to thank Librinova Publishing for allowing me to read this book. I discovered the author's pen while reading this book and I find it so addictive.

We find Pierre, the main character of this novel, who, following the death of his father, receives a strange call from his so-called half-sister. Born during the Second World War, Claire never knew her parents and the fact that they meet with Pierre could lead them to know more about their lives and answer questions they have been asking for a long time.

Pierre wants to learn as much as possible about his life, and with Claire he learns about himself, about the reasons of his birth, having had a childhood without affection.

A book read in one go, so much so that I was hooked on the story, so gripping, addictive, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters.
