Formerly a BBC producer, she turned to novel writing after the birth of her third child.
After her MA in Creative Writing, she became a Creative Writing Tutor at Richmond Adult Community College and now combines writing, mentoring and lecturing. She has also published three children's books in Italy.

Je tiens particulièrement à remercier les éditions Bookouture et le site Netgalley de m'avoir permis de lire ce livre.
Nicola Watson à vécu il y a trente ans avec ses parents et son frère ainé dans une banlieue respectable. A dix ans elle ne comprenait pas pourquoi à l'approche de son père son estomac se nouait, ni pourquoi son frère béguait de plus en plus ni pourquoi une nuit sa mère les a emmener loin de la maison. Nicola est de nos jours avocate et rentre chez elle pour l'enterrement de sa mère. Elle s'en veux d'avoir laisser sa famille derrière elle. Elle est persuadée que c'est de sa faute la mise en prison de son frère Graham.
Tout ce que voulais sa mère Carol c'est les protéger jusqu'au jour où son père va s'évader de prison. et là Nicola va apprendre la vérité sur ce que sa mère à fait à l'époque et cela va changer son estime sur elle et sa famille.
Un livre lu d'une traite tellement j'ai accroché à l'histoire si émouvante à certains passages, addictive, captivante, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages très attachants.

At the age of ten she could not understand why her stomach would get knotted when her father approached her, why her brother stuttered more and more, or why one night her mother took them away from home. Nicola is now a lawyer and is returning home for her mother's funeral. She feels sorry for leaving her family behind. She believes that it is her fault that her brother Graham was put in jail.
All her mother Carol wanted was to protect them until the day her father escaped from jail. And then Nicola will learn the truth about what her mother did at the time and it will change the way she feels about her and her family.
A book read in one go, so much so that I hung on to the story, so moving at certain passages, addictive, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters.
