My North Star

Ridin’ through the dusty trail, the sun begins to fade,

A lone cowboy with a heavy heart, life begins to wane.

With a bullet in his back, he knows he won't go far,

But all he wants to do now is die under his star.

Mountains rise around him, shadows growing long,

He remembers distant valleys where his spirit once belonged.

No family waits to mourn him, no children and no wife,

Just the whispers of the prairie in echoes of his life.

[CHORUS]

One last ride through the plains, under the dying glow,

On this lonely track, where the wildflowers grow.

No tears to cry, no goodbyes to say,

Just a cowboy’s final sunset, his last day.

Freedom's been his lover, 'neath the wide open sky,

He’ll be fading away tonight, leavin’ no one to cry.

Just him, his gun, his boots, a saddle and his horse,

He’ll depart to new pastures almost with no remorse.

He recalls the rustling forest, the whispering of pines,

Days spent chasing sunsets, beneath those western skies.

The crackle of a campfire, the lull of a wolf's song,

In his final moments, these memories are strong.

[CHORUS]

One last ride through the plains, under the dying glow,

On this lonely track, where the wildflowers grow.

No tears to cry, no goodbyes to say,

Just a cowboy’s final sunset, his last day.

Breathing growing ragged, his vision starts to blur,

Time to step down now to answer Death’s lure.

A peaceful smile emerges on his weathered face,

For every dawn and moonlight walk, he'd never want to replace.

The final hour is set and the sun is gone,

He just rolls on the floor wait’in for the North star to spawn.

No better way to go but lying under her light,

As he has always done, night after night.

[CHORUS]

One last ride through the plains, under the dying glow,

On this lonely track, where the wildflowers grow.

No tears to cry, no goodbyes to say,

Just a cowboy’s final sunset, his last day.

He feels the cold embrace and reaches into his pocket,

Grabbing the wedding ring that earned him a bullet.

Oh Suzanna dearest, you will never know,

But you were my last thought when it was time to go,

Merci Laetitia. La country tend à me rendre un peu mélancolique. À moins que ce ne soit la charge émotionnelle de mes persos du moment qui suinte. 😥

À l'occaz' j'essaie de trouver un texte plus guilleret avec de la country plus "danse en ligne". 😉

Thx Imoto, I had an urge to write country those past 2 days 😉
Never tackled this genre before. It's quite liberating, sort of free flowing and focused more on the storytelling. I like it.
