Le groupe Led Zeppelin s'est formé fin 1969. Jimmy Page (guitare), Robert Plant (voix), John Paul Jones (basse, claviers) et John Bonham (batterie) se sont retrouvés un soir pour voir ce que pouvait donner une association de ces quatre personnages. Après avoir joué "Train kept a rollin'", ils ont compris que la mayonnaise allait prendre.
Un premier album frappé au coin du blues et montrant les capacités hors norme de ce quatuor sortit début 1969. "Dazed and confused" et son archet de feu, "How many more times" ou "Communication breakdown" changeaient la face du rock et le bardaient de métal.
Un deuxième album, écrit sur la route, enfonçait le clou avec des monuments comme "Heartbreaker" et bien sûr "Whole Lotta love". Le heavy metal, inventé par Paul Mc Cartney en 1968 (eh oui :
