The Well
I feel my feet slip off the ledge,
Slow-motion dive, right off the edge.
World's sounds fade, I barely call.
While gravity gently guides my fall,
All I can muster is a gasp,
There is nothing for me to grasp.
Sky’s reduced to a circle, bright and blue,
Heart beats loud, the world askew.
[Chorus]
I am falling, strangely calm,
Floating deeper, peaceful as a psalm.
Downward clarity sets me free,
A graceful plunge embracing gravity.
Face up, back down in this funnel
Like walking backward in a tunnel
Outside’s echoes ghostly linger,
As I rush down to the water.
Air gets thin and I fight for breath,
While heartbeats skip, waltzing with death.
The sky shrinks to a distant Sun.
As I keep falling like a life undone,
[Chorus]
I am falling, strangely calm,
Floating deeper, peaceful as a psalm.
Downward clarity sets me
