Missing Out or Making Choices?
Reflecting on opportunities, missed and made.
We’ve all been there, looking back at a crossroads in our past with curiosity about what might have been if we’d chosen a different path. Those ephemeral “what ifs” that dance in our minds, showing us visions of roads not taken. As someone who’s had my fair share of second-guessing choices both big and small, I’ve found it helpful to try reframing how I view opportunities, ones seized and slipped by alike.
A few years back, I had the chance to invest in a fledgling tech startup doing innovative work in renewable energy solutions.
They were eager to bring on individual backers as they refined their prototype. But being fresh out of school at the time with limited savings to my name, it felt like a huge gamble. While I truly believed in their mission, it was just as likely they’d burn through funding before becoming viable. So I held onto my money, hoping for the security it represented.
