Chapter 1 - Intro: Introduction of Kevin Craft
1. In the Middle East, a group of UN peace keepers raids a mercenary compound prepping a bombing on nearby villages. The mercenaries are taken by surprise with no idea they were even watched. No casualties among the UN soldiers who seemed to have anticipated every move.
2. UN head quarter in NYC, the “Probality Shift” project’s director congratulates his team. Their first real world probabilistic model worked. UN soldiers intervened in the right place at the right time to avoid a terrible bombing. Kevin stays awkwardly in a corner when his boss mentioned his invaluable work while Vanessa comforts him with a smile.
3. That evening, while reviewing their research notes at home, Kevin expresses concern about the ethical implications of their work but is reassured by Vanessa's unwavering faith in him.
4. The chapter ends in Blake’s estate, Blake is getting news that the coup he was attempting to put one of his pawns into power in the Middle East has been thwarted by the UN. He is furious and wants to know how this happened, foreshadowing Eugene Blake's interest in the Craft’s research.
Chapter 2 - Inciting Incident: Eugene Blake's Attention
1. Eugene Blake, after learning about The UN project to use probabilistic models to prevent crises, sees an opportunity to exploit the research for his own gains and begins plotting to approach Kevin and Vanessa.
2. Vanessa prepares for the upcoming gala, expressing excitement about the potential funding and support for their project, unaware of Blake's plans.
3. Blake attempts to contact Kevin with a lucrative offer to divert his research towards market manipulation, which Kevin rejects after consulting with Vanessa.
4. Blake, frustrated by the rejection, decides on a more sinister approach to bring Kevin to his knees, planning Vanessa's murder.
Chapter 3 - Immediate Reaction: The Aftermath of Tragedy
1. Kevin arrives late to the gala, only to witness the aftermath of Vanessa's murder, a moment that shatters his world.
2. Overwhelmed by guilt and despair, Kevin shuts himself away, replaying the night's events, convinced his research could have prevented the tragedy.
3. Kevin starts obsessively reviewing their research data, looking for any clue that might allow him to change the past.
4. He isolates himself from colleagues and friends, ignoring their attempts to help him grieve, consumed by the idea of using time consciousness projection to save Vanessa.
