Il est temps de développer le pitch dramatique en un synopsis complet en utilisant tous les détails des prémisses.
- Développez les idées ;
- Renforcez les conflits (objectifs vs. obstacles) ;
- Intégrez les intrigues de chaque personnage ;
- Assurez la cohérence logique de l'histoire ;
- Prenez des décisions stratégiques pour le déroulement de l'histoire ;
- Revenez aux étapes précédentes à mesure que l'histoire prend vie et que de nouvelles idées émergent, afin de corriger, modifier, ajouter ou supprimer des informations des étapes 2 et 3 et tenir à jour votre codex.
Ou, là encore, laisser bosser l’IA :
Le choix de structure (et son éventuelle variante) au stade du synopsis est important pour l’IA, sinon elle risque de générer certains éléments trop tôt, ou trop tard. Je vous en ai déjà détaillée une : celle des 3 actes. (La plus commune et surtout la base de toutes, et, comme je vous aime, avec la série sur la dramaturgie et la conclusion hybride, vous êtes en fait sur du « 3 actes enrichis » soit 3 actes / 7 points / save the cat). Je ne voulais pas vous faire peur : il y en a bien d’autres (après… ce sont toutes des variantes autour de la dramaturgie). Comme j’ai une vie (et un roman à écrire… il faudrait donc que j’arrête de procrastiner…) je ne vais pas vous faire une série d’articles par type de structure, si le sujet vous intéresse : lien. Pour notre exemple, je suis resté classique sur du 3 actes sans options.
Résultats pour notre roman d’exemple :
Act 1: Setup
After the success of their first test with a breakthrough probabilistic model, Kevin Craft, a brilliant yet socially inept physicist, and his wife come to Eugene Blake’s attention, whose shadow political plays in the Middle East have been predicted and thwarted by their test. After trying to buy them off in vain, he decides to have Kevin’s wife murdered in the hope of stopping the UN research, propelling the husband into a desperate quest to model the exact moment of her attack. Kevin's guilt and obsession drive him to adapt his UN-funded research for time consciousness projection, despite the ethical implications and potential risks, to try and save his wife. But to do that he needs a perfect model reconstitution. His antagonist, Eugene Blake, a shadowy mogul with ambitions for world domination, becomes interested in Kevin's work, seeing it as a means to achieve unparalleled power and wealth. After illegally acquiring the data needed to model the critical moments surrounding his wife's departure, Kevin gets suspended from the UN project.
Act 2: Confrontation
Kevin can barely manage to install a hack to access his dataset from outside, knowing that the security measures will wipe the hack in 5 days. That is all the time he has to finish his model and try to project is consciousness in the past to prevent the murder. Blake recruits Kevin, who accepts in order to get the hardware and resources he needs, falsely agreeing to adapt his model for predicting the market. But when Blake discovers Kevin's true intentions are to project his consciousness in the past, he sees the potential of such a technology for him (unlimited wealth by going back to the past to trick investments, but also to avoid the accident that made him paralyzed when he was a teen). He also realizes the threat it poses to his own plans. If Vanessa lives, the time consciousness projection technology—and thus Blake's ambitions—will never materialize. So Blake decides to let Kevin finish his work, and have him killed right before he saves his wife. During a secret testing, Kevin projects his consciousness a few minutes ahead, and witnesses his own murder. He immediately attempts a daring leap back in time, aiming to save Vanessa. However, Blake's interventions thwart his attempts, leading Kevin to a profound realization about destiny and his inability to alter key events without severe consequences.
Act 3: Resolution
Having leaped once in the dataset, Kevin cannot try again, and the murder of his wife is still in place, Blake ceases the technology for himself. Kevin narrowly escapes and, in a final, desperate move, decides to break into the UN (with the help of a colleague) and use makeshift hardware to use the only other full dataset at his disposal, the one from the previous UN test, projecting his consciousness back to sabotage the UN probabilistic model's initial success. This act ensures Blake’s play in the Middle East is a success, and he never turns his attention towards the Crafts, fundamentally altering the timeline to prevent Vanessa's murder indirectly. Kevin's actions embody a poignant sacrifice—choosing personal gain over potential global benefits from his research. With the timeline restored, the couple is invited to a similar gala, thrown by a philanthropic billionaire willing to fund the research despite its apparent failure. The story culminates when the billionaire is revealed to be no other than Blake himself, walking, and charming… He had time to project his consciousness back and avoid the accident that paralyzed him in the original timeline. But in this new timeline, without accident, he didn’t turn into the bitter Blake we’ve seen until now. On the contrary, he thrives upon sharing his wealth and helping others. He hints at remembering both time lines, like Kevin does, but their last stare neither confirms nor negates this impression.
