The protagonist:
Name: Kevin Craft
Nickname: Kev
Tagline: Devastated by his wife's death, he seeks by all means to change the past to prevent her murder.
Date of Birth: 12/05/1985
Gender: M
Marital Status: Married without children
Physical Description: 5'9" / 165 lbs, brunette, short spiky hair that's never styled, hazel eyes, not very athletic but not noticeably overweight. Clean-shaven face, no glasses. Always dressed the same way to simplify his wardrobe and clothing choices, he has owned multiple copies of the same outfit since his youth: charcoal grey Dockers, black T-shirt, white socks, and sports shoes.
Motivation (abstract): To save his wife.
Need (concrete): To break through the barriers of time.
Conflict(s): He is blinded by his task, leading him to make dangerous decisions (violating UN protocols, ignoring privacy laws, experimenting on himself...)
He is a sociopath (not in the "serial killer" sense, but rather in terms of a personality disorder like Asperger's/avoidant/obsessive-compulsive), his wife was the one who allowed him to function in society. Left to his own devices, his bearings are skewed.
Epiphany: He manages to project his consciousness back in time, but realizes that destiny is not one of those pages that can be rewritten easily.
Personality Description: Asperger's/Avoidant/Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. Introverted, not particularly shy, lives in his own world, lacks a conventional understanding of social cues, numerous OCD tendencies. Obsessed with his work, lacks empathy except for a few shards towards his wife developed over their long relationship. He has cravings for chocolate bagels.
Profession: Researcher. His education was partially through correspondence and self-taught. However, he holds two legitimate doctorates: in mathematics and applied physics.
Hobbies: Microcomputing, more out of necessity for his work than actual passion.
Possessions and wealth: A patent for an obscure process of refining graphene provides him with income from various labs and industries using it. Without being wealthy, he and his wife live comfortably and own a penthouse apartment in a posh building complex. He does not know how to drive and does not own a car.
History/Biography: The second child arriving late to a couple of insurance agents, Kevin showed early signs of social inaptitude. A gifted child, his grades were nonetheless catastrophic due to his behavior and disregard for homework and other forms of control. His parents long considered him retarded and acted accordingly by placing him in a special school until the age of 7. It was actually his sister, ten years his senior, who detected the prodigy when he assimilated her high school courses and helped her solve math problems. He was then sent to a boarding school across the country in a center for gifted children, but again, his social behaviors hindered his integration. Fortunately, one of the teachers took a special interest in his case and intensified psychological follow-up. Neglected by his own parents, he spent more and more time with his teacher and her daughter, two years his senior. She was the only one who seemed to gradually break through his shell, and he quickly became attached to her. They never parted, followed a common physics curriculum at a conventional university where his future wife made every effort to help him integrate. Concurrently, he completed an independent mathematics curriculum.
His father died in 2006 of a heart attack, followed in 2011 by his mother from cancer. He left the inheritance to his sister who moved back into the family home with her husband and their two children aged 6 and 3.
He married in 2013 during a conference in Las Vegas, much to his wife's surprise. The proposal was marked by cold, implacable logic, behind which only she could discern the turmoil and feelings of her husband. Reflecting on the journey that brought them together, he launched into his research on probability and considered devising an algorithm coupled with a computer model of a given environment. He has since been working to materialize his theoretical ideas with the help of his wife and the support of the UN, which funds their research.
Summary: A genius with an extraordinary intellect and IQ, Kevin Craft would be nothing more than a social outcast if not for his wife and assistant, who allows him to live in society and deploy his talents as a researcher. When she is murdered, he takes the blame and turns to his research to repair, at all costs, what he considers to be his mistake. Without guidance and bearings, he spirals down a path that leads him to a consortium ruled with an iron fist by someone named "Blake," whose sole purpose is to usurp his research for world domination. The scientist, unconcerned with his employer's motives, manages to develop a system to project his consciousness back to the scene of the crime a few minutes before the tragedy. Blake intervenes to prevent him from saving his wife so that the invention can come into existence and become his property. But Kevin realizes he can use a previous dataset from the first UN test to project himself further back in time and sabotage his own research to avoid getting on Blake’s radar who was the one who ordered his wife’s assassination in the first place.

MECHANICS
Time consciousness projection mechanics: Only able to project a consciousness to its own body if a sufficient amount of data (or dataset) is available surrounding the exact period targeted. There can be only one projection per specific time per person, so projecting twice in the same time as the same person is not possible. So there is no “physical” time traveling of any object or person, just consciousness projection into past or future self.
