Annita et Oscar voyaient cinq moines face à eux, tous alignés, immobiles comme des statues sous leurs capuches sombres. Ils s’approchèrent de l’un d’eux, un moine robuste à la barbe noire et à la capuche rabattue sur le front.
— Bonjour, je suis Annita et voici mon frère Oscar.
Le moine leva les yeux vers eux, un pli sévère au coin de la bouche.
— Vous avez la mémoire courte ? On s’est vus avant-hier au banquet du comte Laverhit. Au cas où vous auriez oublié, moi c’est frère Dublon.
Annita échangea un regard amusé avec Oscar.
— Bien sûr… pardon, moine Dublon, répondit-elle, un brin théâtrale.
Il hocha lentement la tête avant de reprendre, plus grave :
