Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch Review
Article written on automatelife.net on September 13, 2020
The BW-AT1 Smartwatch is poised to bring you all the features you want in a smartwatch for less.
I was able to get my hands on the Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch from Banggood. I have used the BW-AT1 for the past couple of months and I am ready to share with you my experience. Having a smartwatch or smart wearable to try out is fun. The Blitzwolf BW-AT1 smartwatch showed me how my heart was functioning, whether I was getting enough exercise or proper sleep, and it helped me stay informed with notifications from my phone. Please enjoy the review of the BW-AT1 Smartwatch.

Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Design
The Blitzwolf BW-AT1 looks like a well-built smartwatch. It has a long durable band with many slots and fittings to fit most wrists. The watch boasts a 1.3-inch touch screen user-interface (UI). The BW-AT1 is considered water-resistant to IP68 standards (which means, dust, rain, and some splashing, but not waterproof). It seems rugged enough to take anywhere. I wore it while bathing my kids, so there was some water immersion, but not at depths past 1.5 meters. It still works after a few bathings. The BW-AT1 comes with 240 mAh of battery life and boasts 14 days of standby time with 5 to 7 days of working time. I would agree that this watch lasted a long time between charging. The BW-AT1 smartwatch comes with a mag-safe charger that connects to the back of the smartwatch base.

Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch Features
The Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch has several features that make it more of an actual smartwatch vs. a fitness tracker with the capabilities of telling time. The BW-AT1 tracks your steps, heart, sleep, sport-based activity, measures your blood pressure, and your SpO2. It also gives you the weather based on your location. Blitzwolf BW-AT1 also provides messaging and phone notifications. It has everything that you would expect from Smartwatch. It can also help take pictures from your phone with a click of your smartwatch. It’s also a functioning Outdoor Running tracker that uses the GPS on your phone to track your path on a map.
Taking Pictures with BW-AT1
I tried taking a few family group pictures using the built-in timer shutter. The timer duration is three seconds. I used the button on the smartwatch display to take photos. It worked well. I was able to take some good pictures.
Da Fit App
You will need the Da Fit app from the Google Play store to configure the BW-AT1. The Da Fit app home page shows your daily steps, sleep monitor, heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen (SpO2), and outdoor running (default with GPS mapping).
Messaging, Phone Notifications
The BW-AT1 provides message and phone notifications for the following:
- Phone
- Messages
- Facebook (I’m guessing FB messenger)
- Skype
- Line
- KakaoTalk
- Others (I have no idea what Others mean. I will have to check with Blitzwolf and update the article later)
You have to use the Da Fit app to configure which notifications you want. I activated Phone, Messages, and WhatsApp on the Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch. I noticed that the messages notification did not work too well. I couldn’t get any of my incoming messages to show up on the BW-AT1. However, I was able to see who was calling me when a phone call came in. The BW-AT1 would vibrate until I touched the smartwatch face. WhatsApp messages also worked; it would show the WhatsApp notification up to a max of so many characters. But, I got the message. The interaction was a bit choppy, but it did the job.
Step Counter
The BW-AT1 comes with a step counter. You can access your step count via the Da Fit app or smartwatch. The Da Fit App keeps track of your steps for the day, week, and month. The Da Fit app calculates the MET-min (amount of activity over 10 minutes). I found the step counter to be comparable to the count on my android phone (Google Fit app). You can also see the number of calories burned.
Sleep Monitor
The BW-AT1 determines when your body is at rest. It then determines your sleep quality score using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Calculation. It’s a fancy way to say that the Blitzwolf BW-AT1 and Da Fit App are using some science. It’s hard to determine whether the App is doing what it says it’s doing. The Da Fit app will show you when you’re going to REM cycles, or when you’re not getting the best sleep.
In my experience, I took used the BW-AT1 when out camping in the trailer. After falling asleep, the BW-AT1 smartwatch face would light-up intermittently. Can you imagine having your watch close to your face, and it lights up in the middle of the night? Well, it did. Right in my wife’s face. She was not impressed. I couldn’t get the watch to stop lighting up in the middle of the night. So I took the watch off that night. This didn’t happen every night, but it goes to show that some tech can be buggy. Apart from the bugs, the Blitzwolf BW-AT1 smartwatch was able to track my sleep. I think it messed up and stopped recording sleep when the watch slipped off my wrist.
Heart Rate Monitor
I found the heart rate monitor on the BW-AT1 smartwatch to be accurate. I compared the heart to my manual pulse count. It was pretty close to the number I had counted. The heart rate monitor is one of the primary metrics on the main watch display. You can also scroll down on the watch to get to the heart tracking display. You can request a heart rate measurement by double-tapping. You’ll get a distinct vibration and wait a few seconds of your new heart rate measurement.
Motion Tracking and Built-In Sports Modes
The BW-AT1 comes with 8 (eight) different Built-In sports modes. The sports modes include Basketball, Walking, Skipping, Cycling, Football, Running, Badminton, and Swimming. In either sport-mode, it will track your calorie burn, heart rate, number of steps (if applicable), distance, and duration. I have tried a few of the modes, less the swimming (scared to take it in water since its IP68) and skipping. The watch will sometimes think you’re doing an intense activity and begin recording your sports activity automatically. I noticed it starting to track activity when mowing the lawn or doing work around the house.
Blood Pressure Monitoring
I find that blood pressure monitoring for any wearable like a smartwatch to be questionable. How can the BW-AT1 track blood pressure without pressure on the hand or arm? Look how far science and tech as come. In any case, I was concerned that tracking the wrong blood pressure would give me a false positive for some ‘sort of’ health condition that I either have or don’t have. Blood Pressure monitoring is one of the features of the BW-AT1 that I used the most in the first couple of weeks. I wanted to see if the BW-AT1 was accurate, or at least gave me a trend of what was happening. I scrolled down to the blood pressure UI on the watch and double-tapped. You get a quick vibration and see the BW-AT1 start taking the measurements. In a few seconds, the BW-AT1 it spits out my blood pressure. I wanted to see if this blood pressure monitoring was close to accurate, so I compared it to a blood pressure monitor that cuffed to my arm. It was not an entirely scientific test. I have to say that there were some differences, not significant, but I can see how the BW-AT1 could provide some trends for blood pressure monitoring. I can now think about getting this watch for my parents or someone who needs to monitor their blood pressure daily.
Blood Oxygen Levels, SpO2
The BW-AT1 also comes with a Blood Oxygen or Pulse Oximeter built-in to the wearable. You can scroll down the user interface on the smartwatch display and tap to measure your blood oxygen levels. The Da Fit App tracks the daily, weekly, and monthly levels as well. I also found this to be quite useful for figuring out energy levels throughout the day.
Outdoor Running
The Da Fit app comes with an Outdoor Running feature that tracks your movement using the GPS built-into your phone. I tried it out a few times and was impressed that it provided a GPS map of your location and speed. You can then output a map that tracks your movement on a google map. It worked well and monitored the pace at which you moved. It also tracked heart rate, steps, duration, and distance. I think it is quite comparable to many fitness trackers out there that require subscriptions to monitor your running.
What I liked about the Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch
- Outdoor Running: Most watches on the market do not provide a GPS enabled running app unless you pay for a subscription. The Da Fit App keeps track of your outings with Pace, Steps, Calorie consumption. For the price, it beats the competition.
- Blood Pressure Monitor: I know that it was not entirely accurate but it did the job to monitor my blood pressure. I think there were times that it must have been way off – but I think it depends on how the watch fits on your wrist.
- Durability: I’ve worn the BW-AT1 pretty much every time I’m outside. I have bumped and dropped it a few times, only to see the BW-AT1 still functioning.
What I did not like about the Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch
- Bugs: Although there a ton of features built-into the BW-AT1, there were times when the watch would scroll through the features by itself, even when I was not wearing the watch. I told you that the watch would light-up and vibrate in the dark during sleep, so there are some things Blitzwolf will need to work on for the next firmware update.
- Notifications: The notification for phone calls and messaging did not work entirely. I couldn’t get messages to display, but WhatsApp and Phone notifications worked.
The Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch
The Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch is a full-screen touch dynamic UI fitness tracker, sleep/health monitor, and running watch all into one. To get all these features with a price tag of $40 CDN (on sale at Banggood.com) is astonishing. The watch does have some interesting bugs that can be annoying at times. I think that’s the price of paying less than $32 USD for a smartwatch that claims to do all things. There are competitors out there that can get the user interface just right – and you pay through the teeth. However, Blitzwolf BW-AT1 an economical option for those who could use access to health monitoring and subscription less running applications. I think if you can manage to get over the user interface (UI) and some of the bugs, you’ll be surprised that you have functioning full-feature sub $32 USD smartwatch on your wrist. If you’re in the market for a smartwatch that does it all, you’ll want to consider the Blitzwolf BW-AT1 Smartwatch.
