3 Taiwanese Online Media Bridging You and the World

I struggled for quite a while for the idea of this new article. Eventually, knowing that most of the potential readers and more than half of my friends cannot read Chinese, I still want to share the Taiwanese websites I go to for insightful articles. Even though their posts cannot reach all of you, I believe that sharing the ideas behind them can still be inspirational!

Social Enterprise Insights

Sustainability | Responsibility | Innovation

Social Enterprise Insights position themselves as the first and the most impactful Mandarin media that focuses on social enterprises and corporate social responsibility. SEI started by sharing success stories of social enterprises and their endeavors in improving equality with their business models. In this way, their followers can have an idea about how social enterprises and big companies take care of the environment or take responsibility in society with their products or services. Now with their business steadily growing, they have several focuses for promoting social enterprises including knowledge sharing, event, and interactions as well as social enterprise incubating.

I like them because they have many firsts in this rather niche field. With their persistence, the brand has kept growing for 8 years already. Thanks to their articles, I discover how corporations as well as some governments gather talents and try to make the world a better place. It is also an important source for me to know where would be the challenges and chances for companies to invest in social responsibilities. With this platform, it is clear that powerful content can be the base of a company structure and it can also create long-term impacts from its readers to society.

Personally, I pay extra attention to their environmental articles to discover what many companies are doing to reduce waste, improve recycling rate, and reach sustainability. They also suggest multiple ways in which individuals can have a more responsible lifestyle without sacrificing, even improving one’s quality of living.

Business Next

Technology | Key Business Events | Industry Insights

Wondering how technology changes your industry and what big players set up their strategy for the upcoming 3 to 10 years? Business Next always has news, interviews, and critics that cover a wide range of topics. On Business Next, I can always obtain a good understanding of the Taiwanese tech industry trends, it is also a great place for spotting e-commerce news, successful cases of a company digitalization or rising tech start-ups.

They are not only online media, but they also have a regular monthly publication that is valuable to many businesses for keeping in touch with the changes in their target industries. To me, Business Next is a fully-developed news feed covering all exciting developments of the overall economic activities. I also highly recommend their monthly featured articles covering 5G deployment, AI, the gaming industry, gamification in companies, tech start-ups, and more. With their featured articles, readers can easily pick up an idea or new developments in the business world. That is actually how I started to pay attention to some new e-commerce features in the first place, as well as the idea about smart cities and what choices do companies, as well as individuals, have for building up a more convenient future.

They showed how powerful quality articles can be to bond technology, businesses, and readers. Even more, they analyzed some most common things in our daily life and tell the readers that it actually has a sophisticated strategy and that it also has a great potential of growing a brand under the surface.

The News Lens

International | Viewpoint Diversity | Knowledge Sharing

Need some information on the most popular subjects for dummies? Seeking for some trivia on politics, art and culture, history, or new trends like being eco-responsible? Or maybe you’re interested in international relations between countries, who has a say in what region and how the global political confrontations may affect the business world? All of them can be found on The News Lens.

They are good at using pictures, maps, charts, and videos to conclude a huge amount of information into understandable bullet points and make readers eager to know more. Instead of posting their own opinions and be solely a platform of international news, they widely invite other newspapers and guest writers to broaden the perspectives they cover. They probably don’t have a limit on what they’ll cover, but they always make sure the news is well written and the critics are built with strong arguments. They also aren’t afraid of publishing opinions that are strongly politicalized and may go against the opinions of some of their potential readers. By staying honest and courageous to controversial topics, they build a group of loyal readers and increasingly strengthen their presence on social media to educate readers with their informative words.

I like them because even though most of the time their articles are hard reads, it always feels like I’ve learned something or I’ve known a different side of a story after finishing them. On top of that, it is a high-quality media that includes international news not only about powerful countries but also about the rising ASEAN that is close to Taiwan and critical to our future economic development. As well as the refugee issues that seem far away from many Taiwanese people’s life and the economy or politics in South America that is certainly far away from Taiwan geographically, etc.

As of the three media I mentioned, only one of them has a fully operating English website for international readers. Keep in mind that the goal of my article today is not to suggest quality media, say “ Sorry you cannot read Chinese and you are not the target audience. ” and leave.

I want to show how new media in Taiwan are shaping our new generation’s understandings of movements within the international society and global economics. They further encourage a discussion between different groups with an open mind.

There are also some other sites that I didn’t choose for the article today but they also have a strong influence on how I want to see the world and who I want to be. If you have time, you can check on Womany, BuzzOrange and TechOrange in Chinese or Techcrunch in English! Perhaps you have some sources of information that you trust and bring you a global view of different discussions. If yes, spread out what those media are and how they’re valuable to you. Let your friends and families know how quality articles can educate readers and change the world!
