Oltreoceano is the journal of CILM (International Research Center on Migrant Literatures). It publishes essays in English, French, Italian and Spanish on the literary, linguistic, cultural production of subjects migrating to the Americas.

Female Gazes on the Cultural Clash

The present considerations arise from the need to warn the reader on the reasons that led us to publish issue 20 of Oltreoceano as a special issue. In it, through multiple approaches to the feminine, we wanted to offer a panorama as complete as possible on the function of memory reactivated in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, relating to the cultural, artistic French and French-speaking space of the colonial period. Evident is the need to appropriate ancient values that time has shaped through the
