A few words about the author :

Søren Sveistrup is an internationally acclaimed scriptwriter of the Danish television phenomenon The Killing which won various international awards and sold in more than a hundred countries. More recently, Sveistrup wrote the screenplay for Jo Nesbø's The Snowman.

Sveistrup obtained a Master in Literature and in History from the University of Copenhagen and studied at the Danish Film School. He has won countless prizes, including an Emmy for Nikolaj and Julie and a BAFTA for The Killing.

In charge of the investigation, young inspector Naia Thulin and inspector Mark Hess soon discover that the figurine bears mysterious fingerprints: those of the daughter of Rosa Hartung, Minister of Social Affairs, who was kidnapped a year earlier and presumed dead.

Thulin and Hess explore all the leads that would reveal a link between the disappearance of the minister's daughter and the victim with the severed hand. When another woman is killed, following the same pattern, they realize that the nightmare has only just begun...

Depuis le temps que je voulais lire ce livre voilà qui est fait, l'histoire m'a tenu en haleine du début à la fin.

L'histoire se déroule à Copenhague où début octobre la police trouve le corps d'une femme avec une main en moins. Tout juste près du corps se trouve une petite marionnette faite avec des allumettes et des marrons. Deux enquêteurs sont sur l'affaire : Naia Thulin et Mark Hees et il s’avère que sur cette fameuse figurine se trouvent des empreintes mystérieuses. La fille du ministre des affaires sociales disparue un an plus tôt et présumée morte. Sauf qu'un deuxième corps va être retrouvé. Ce n'est que le début du cauchemar.

J'ai de suite accroché à l'histoire si prenante, captivante, addictive, remplie d'intrigues de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages très attachants. J'adore la plume de l'auteur.

I have been wanting to read this book for a long time, and now I have, the story kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

The story takes place in Copenhagen where in early October the police find the body of a woman with one hand missing. Right next to the body is a small puppet made from matches and chestnuts. Two investigators are on the case: Naia Thulin and Mark Hees and it turns out that on this famous figurine there are mysterious fingerprints. The daughter of the Minister of Social Affairs disappeared a year earlier and was presumed dead. But a second body is found. This is only the beginning of the nightmare.

I was immediately hooked on the story, so gripping, captivating, addictive, full of intrigue, suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters. I love the author's writing.
