Village dance
Village dance
Tonight, I’m going dancing.
I’ll take the floor at last.
I even took some lessons,
To be ready for this day.
I arrive, I look around,
Introduce myself, hold out my hand.
Her light steps begin to move,
And my heart beats faster, unsure.
The music plays, steady and bright,
We find each other’s rhythm.
Without a word, a bond is made,
Our hearts dancing as much as our feet.
Smiles appear, glances linger,
A few desires slip through a sigh.
In this simple village dance,
A whole world suddenly opens.
The notes follow one another,
My thoughts drift away.
Will the ending be joy or sadness?
We play, we give, we borrow.
The tune changes,
A new partner, a new step.
Another dream, another hand,
And the same joy returns.
The evening was wonderful,
So many beautiful encounters
Radiant women, ladies,
The ticking of watches,
Memories and perfumes,
Hands held, hands brushed,
All carried by the rushing music,
Until the very end of the night.
