Festival Treviso Giallo
“Perhaps no book is a litmus test of an era like a novel of crimes and spies.”
Claudio Magris
The Festival is characterized by the peculiar scientific style that distinguishes it at a national and European level. It welcomes the active collaboration of several Italian and foreign universities. The mission of this event is to enhance the value of the genre of the detective story, through a multidisciplinary artistic approach. The specificity of the themes addressed and their conversion into a language that can be enjoyed by an increasingly wider public, have transformed the detective story into a privileged lens of observation of contemporary society, through which the authors are able to analyze its distorted dynamics, deviances and perversions, thus uncovering the dark and criminal side of the human soul, observed both with the eyes of the guardians of the order and with those of the victims and, sometimes, of the perpetrators. The focus is on a literary genre that in recent decades has succeeded in undermining the rules of its origins, and contaminate itself with other genres and languages such as cinema, television, music, theatre and, recently, the new forms of digital video entertainment.
Due to this approach, the “classic” volume presentations and themed roundtables, with national and international guests, take on a much broader and more articulated value, becoming a unique opportunity for in-depth interdisciplinary comparison, through the debate on precise issues of a social, historical, judicial and economic nature that directly affect our society and public institutions.
Thanks to a precise methodological path, the public can enjoy a new interpretation of the genre of the detective story with all its nuances from the thriller, to the noir, hardboiled, etc. and include it, in its own right, among the protagonists of the complex contemporary cultural scene, free at last from the hard-to-die stereotype of the popular entertainment or the charge of escapism, which prevented the public from appreciating its ability to investigate that great mystery of “human nature”, a constant presence in the narrative of all ages and countries.
...stay tuned!
