Emily R. King lit tout ce qui lui tombe sous la main et écrit des romans fantastiques. Née au Canada et élevée aux États-Unis, elle connaît les deux dialectes sur le bout des doigts et les emploie de façon interchangeable. Membre de Shark Advocates (association de défense des requins), amatrice d’oursons en gélatine et profondément insulaire, Emily s’intéresse avant tout à ses quatre enfants. Elle est membre de la Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (Association des auteurs et illustrateurs de livres pour enfants) et participe activement à la communauté d’écrivains de sa région. Elle vit dans le nord de l’Utah avec sa famille et leur chat acariâtre.

Emily R. King reads everything she can get her hands on and writes fantasy novels. Born in Canada and raised in the United States, she knows both dialects at her fingertips and uses them interchangeably. A member of Shark Advocates, a lover of gelatin bears and a deep islander, Emily's main interest is in her four children. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and is an active participant in her local writing community. She lives in northern Utah with her family and their cantankerous cat.

Her only solace comes in the company of her guard, the stoic but kind Captain Deven Naik.
Faced with the danger of a tournament to the death—and her growing affection for Deven—Kalinda has only one hope for escape, and it lies in an arcane, forbidden power buried within her.

Je tiens particulièrement à remercier les éditions Amazon Crossing et le site Netgalley qui m'ont permis de lire ce livre qui fut un vrai coup de cœur. Ce livre est le premier de la série : "The Hundredth Queen".
On y retrouve Kalinda qui est une jeune orpheline de dix-huit ans. Elle à grandi avec la communauté des sœurs de l'empire Tarachand. Elle à des poussées de fièvres ce qui l'empêche d'être une servante, ou encore moins de trouver un époux. Jusqu'au jour où le Rajah Tarek va lui changer sa vie à jamais. Elle va être choisie pour être la centième épouse du tyran et elle va devoir battre les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres épouses. Avec l'aide de son garde Deven Naik va t'elle réussir?
Un livre lu quasi d'une traite tellement j'ai accroché à l'histoire si addictive, captivante, émouvante à certains passages, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages très attachants. Hâte de lire la suite.

I would especially like to thank Amazon Crossing and the Netgalley website for making it possible for me to read this book, which was a real favorite. This book is the first in the series: "The Hundredth Queen".
It features Kalinda who is a young orphan of eighteen years old. She grew up with the community of the Sisters of the Tarachand Empire. She has fever attacks which prevents her from being a servant, or even less from finding a husband. Until the day the Rajah Tarek will change her life forever. She will be chosen to be the hundredth wife of the tyrant and she will have to beat the ninety-nine other wives. With the help of her guard, will Deven Naik succeed?
A book read almost in one go, so much so that I hooked on the story so addictive, captivating, moving at certain passages, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters. Can't wait to read the book two.
