A few words about the author :
Mo Hayder has written some of the most terrifying crime thrillers you will ever read. Her first novel, Birdman, was hailed as a 'first-class shocker' by the Guardian and her follow-up, The Treatment was voted by the Times one of 'the top ten most scary thrillers ever written'. In 2012 Gone won the prestigious Edgars Best Novel award.
Mo left school at 15 and has worked as a barmaid, security guard, English teacher, and even a hostess in a Tokyo club. She has an MA in film making from the American University in Washington DC and an MA in creative writing from Bath Spa University. She now lives in England's West Country and is a full-time writer.

Ce sont des questions auxquelles Sally n'avait jamais vraiment pensé auparavant. Mariée à un homme d'affaires prospère, elle a toujours été un peu rêveuse. Jusqu'à aujourd'hui.
Sa sœur Zoé est son contraire. Inspecteur de police travaillant à Bath Central, elle aime son travail et a une grande confiance en elle. Personne ne devinerait qu'elle cache un secret paralysant qui remonte à vingt ans et qui - s'il est dévoilé - pourrait la détruire.
La fille de Sally se retrouve alors en difficulté, et Sally se rend compte qu'elle a besoin d'argent - beaucoup d'argent - rapidement. N'ayant personne pour l'aider, elle est forcée d'entrer dans un monde criminel où la pornographie extrême et les drogues illicites sont monnaie courante, un monde dans lequel des adolescentes peuvent disparaître.

Mon avis :
Depuis le temps que je voulais lire ce livre, voilà qui est fait. J'ai été de suite attiré par la jolie couverture de ce livre où l'on y voit une femme portant un manteau rouge se dirigeant vers la forêt. La phrase d'accroche au dessus du titre du livre m'a donné envie de lire ce livre. : "Même les bonnes personnes font des choses mauvaises".
On y retrouve Sally qui est divorcée et vis sans argent. Avec sa fille à charge, elle se retrouve comme cela du jour au lendemain sans compétences pour trouver un travail. Et si pour y arriver elle se lançait dans des activités qu'elle même n'aurait jamais cru faire un jour et aller dans des lieux bizarres.
Quant à Zoé sa sœur, c'est tout l'inverse de Sally, brillante inspectrice mais personne ne sais le terrible secret qu'elle cache depuis vingt ans et si il est découvert, elle pourrait tout perdre.
La fille de Sally va se retrouver à avoir besoin d'argent alors Sally va devoir entrer dans le monde criminel de la pornographie, de drogue où des adolescentes peuvent disparaitre.
Les deux sœurs n'ont qu'une envie survivre mais il suffit que l'une d'elle fasse quelque chose de terrible pour que tout dérape.
J'ai accroché de suite à l'histoire si émouvante à certains passages, captivante, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages attachants.
My mind :
Since I've been wanting to read this book for so long, it's done. I was immediately attracted by the pretty cover of this book which shows a woman wearing a red coat heading towards the forest. The catchphrase above the title of the book made me want to read this book. It says: "Even good people do bad things".
It features Sally who is divorced and lives without money. With her dependent daughter, she finds herself like that overnight without the skills to find a job. And if to get there she would engage in activities that she herself never thought she would do one day and go to strange places.
As for Zoé her sister, it's just the opposite of Sally, a brilliant inspector, but nobody knows the terrible secret she has been hiding for twenty years and if it is discovered, she could lose everything.
Sally's daughter will find herself in need of money so Sally will have to enter the criminal world of pornography, drugs where teenage girls can disappear.
The two sisters have only one desire to survive, but it only takes one of them to do something terrible for everything to go wrong.
I immediately hooked on to the story, so moving at certain passages, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with endearing characters.
