A few words about the author :
Lauren A. Forry was brought up in the woods of Bucks County, Pennsylvania where her FBI agent father and book-loving mother raised her on a diet of The X-Files and RL Stine. After earning her BA in Cinema Studies from New York University, she spent some time in film production before moving to London where she earned her MFA in Creative Writing from Kingston University. There she was awarded the Faber and Faber Creative Writing MA Prize for her first horror novel, The Compulsion. Her short stories have since been published by Brick Moon Fiction, Lamplight Magazine, and in multiple sci-fi and horror anthologies. She currently resides in the woods but can, on occasion, be found in the quieter parts of London.

Je tiens à remercier les éditions Arcade Crimewise et le site Netgalley de m'avoir permis de lire ce livre.
L'histoire se déroule en 1995 lorsque six jeunes universitaires emménagent au 215 Caldwell Street. Quelques mois plus tard l'un d'entre eux est retrouvé mort sur le canapé le lendemain d'une fête bien arrosée. Considérée comme un accident par la police la mort de ce jeune est plus considérée comme un meurtre selon les cinq autres . Vingt ans plus tard ils se retrouvent dans un manoir isolé en Écosse. Ils vont se retrouver piégés dans se manoir sans pouvoir en sortir. Ils vont devoir parler sur la mort de leur colocataire, dire leur rôle la dedans et avouer leur crime ou mourir.
Un livre lu d'une traite tellement j'ai accroché à l'histoire si émouvante à certains passages, prenante, addictive, captivante, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages très attachants. J'adore la plume de l'auteure.

The story takes place in 1995 when six young university students moved to 215 Caldwell Street. A few months later one of them was found dead on the couch the day after a drunken party. Considered an accident by the police, the death of this young man is considered more like a murder by the five others. Twenty years later they found themselves in an isolated mansion in Scotland. They will be trapped in the manor without being able to get out. They will have to talk about the death of their roommate, tell their role in it and confess their crime or die.
A book read in one go, so much so that I hung on to the story so moving at certain passages, gripping, addictive, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters. I love the author's writing.
